Effective July 1, 2014
Statement of Policy
While Excelsior College degree programs are designed for flexibility, the College encourages students to make continuous progress toward their academic goals.
Students will be academically dismissed from the College if they:
- Do not attempt to earn Excelsior College credit1 or do not successfully transfer credit toward their degree requirements for 3 consecutive years.
- Do not earn credit toward their degree requirements each year after 6 years of enrollment for associate degree students, or each year after 11 years of enrollment for bachelor’s degree students (for students who are not subject to a degree-specific time limit for completion2).
1Course withdrawals, with the exception of Military Withdrawals (MW), do not count as attempts.
2Some Excelsior programs have overriding time limits for degree completion. Review the Time Limit for Degree Completion policy for degree-specific time limits.
